Frequently asked questions
What is semi-permanent Make-Up?
Semi-permanent make up is a form of cosmetic tattooing. It is a process where coloured pigment is implanted into the skin, using a fine needle, which will last for several years.
Who is Semi-Permanent Make-Up suitable for?
Every woman wants to feel good about her-self and confident her make-up application is faultless with an endurance way beyond anything conventional cosmetics can offer! Perfect Touches offer life changing benefits to alopecia suffers or those who are suffering hair loss following chemotherapy & anyone who wants to take pride in their appearance including sparse & over plucked eyebrows.
Is semi-permanent Make-Up really semi-permanent?
Semi-Permanent make up procedures are considered both permanent and semi permanent. WHY? Permanent, because the pigment components will always be left in the skin although not visible to the eye. Semi –permanent as the colour will fade, and therefore need return visits to refresh the colour from time to time. Factors that contribute to colour fading are, age, exposure to the sun, health, consumption of medications and use of facial products containing exfoliation properties
How long does it take?
You will need to allow approximately two hours for your first appointment. If you intend to have all three procedures (Basic eyes, brows, lips) you will need to allow 3-4 hours in total.
Does it hurt?
Be assured, the very best anaesthetic creams will be used to ensure your maximum comfort throughout.
Is Permanent Make-Up safe?
Yes it is extremely safe. Meticulous standards of hygiene are demonstrated with the use of disposable implements throughout treatment. I guarantee to only use hypo-allergenic, pharmaceutical grade pigments which are selected for their complete purity and proven safety.
What if I don’t like it?
My experience and professional consultation ensures I will understand your needs and desires. I will tell you exactly what is achievable and will use ordinary make up to demonstrate my suggestions. What’s more, I will custom blend colour specially for you. You are involved in the process at every step of the way.
Will it look false or unnatural?
Definitely not! My style of brows and lips are always natural and delicate. I maintain that a person looks with a fresh natural look.
How long will it last?
Many months to a few years. We recommend a colour boosting after 12 to 18 months.
Do I need an allergy test?
A test is offered, or you can elect to waiver the test and have the procedure immediately. A test can be carried out 24 hours prior to the treatment to see if there is any sign of an immediate allergic reaction. 99.9% of people do not have any reaction at all. A test is no guarantee you will not have a reaction.
Why do I need a second visit?
I work the basis that ‘less is best’. To achieve a perfect result a second visit is required. I prefer to under do an application on the first appointment rather than over do, as once as the pigments is in the skin it is hard to change. It is very simple to go thicker or darker on a subsequent visit. Only after the second, perfecting visit is a basic procedure deemed complete. Lip blush, full lip and thick eyeliner will require additional work. These Procedures are all chargeable.
Can I wear make up after?
Yes, we recommend you avoid rubbing the treated area and using new or sanitised wands, brushes and applicator. Once healed, you can wear as much or little conventional make up as you desire.
Can I go swimming or play sport immediately after?
Plan to stay away from sports the same day as your treatment, thereafter is fine. Avoid swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms or sun beds for at least 6 days.
Can I have an MRI scan (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)?
Numerous studies have shown that even for people who have large body tattoos there is little or no irritation. It is recommended that you inform the MRI specialist prior to the treatment that you have had a Micro pigmentation procedure.
Can I still have facial laser treatments (Laser hair removal-LHR)?
No. a laser passing over a micro pigmentation procedure will alter the colour. It is important to advise the LHR specialist. You can still have injectables e.g. Botox, restylene etc but SPMU must either be done 6 weeks prior or 6 weeks post.
Can I give blood?
The red cross states that blood cannot be given for 12 months
